Rock the Red Pump for HIV/Aids Awareness Day

I had a whole post ready and waiting to go for the Rock the Red Pump’s HIV Awareness Day, but…I’m not ready to speak of certain things in an open forum. It was quite a personal post. No, I have not been infected with the disease, but I think people take this thing too lightly and really aren’t thinking about the consequences. Way too many opportunities for close calls. All I will say is, cover up. Especially when you know for a fact that the person that you’re sleeping with is sleeping with someone else unprotected, then cover up. Is it really worth the risk? Really?

Lay with dogs, you rise with fleas. Some are lucky enough to walk away from such situations unscathed, some walk away with a broken heart, some walk away with an unwanted pregnancy and some with life-long communicable diseases. It’s a gamble that some apparently live for, but it’s way too risky for me.

Choosing you: The weak link in a love triangle

Some of my favourite reality shows are back so you know that means I have new content for here. I just got done watching the first few episodes of Khloe and Lamar and yeah…I have words.

Malika Kardashian (Oh? That isn’t her last name? Oh.) was on the show getting cautioned by her best friend Khloe about the new man in her life who she was living with. See, that new man is still “technically married” and has 3 children, one of which is under two years old. You already know how I feel about dating a man with young children. As a matter of fact, you already know how I feel about dating a separated man, but I still chose to write about this because of things Malika said.  (more…)

Important Life Lessons: Words vs Actions

Miami, December 2008

When I was younger, my mantra was always “actions speak louder than words” and looking back I realize how much this notion has burned me a million times. See, the problem with the saying is that actions have different interpretations and too many times we impress our own interpretation without listening to the owner of said actions’ explanations and taking them into consideration. I know I may have lost you somewhere there, so I give you this excerpt from VerySmartBrothas.com

Being a fluffer…don’t you hate that?

I wanted to quote one of my favourite bloggers on this topic becaue she wrote it so eloquently so many years ago…but it seems she’s deleted her blog so I won’t throw light on her. I’ll instead put my own spin on it. From Necole Bitchie: (more…)

Thug loving – when it’s good it’s oh so good

So you know 95% of my content on here comes from trashy Monday night reality TV on VH1. My newest obsession is Love and Hip Hop and then TI’s new show just started too! Ooo wee! (more…)

What do you want in a spouse?

A wise friend of mine asked me a question recently. Are your needs being met? Every woman has a different expectation of marriage, what are the top 3 things you expect? I have to admit the question threw me for a loop. I had to really sit and think about it. As Kim Kardashian reveals that she got “caught up in the hoopla” and thought “things would work itself out” after they were married, I realize that knowing what you want and what your deal breakers are before signing that legal document are of utmost importance. It’s really easy to have a fabulous honeymoon period of courting and get caught up in this feeling of love, but marriage is supposed to be for the long haul. Have your needs at the top of your mind before you walk down the aisle.  (more…)
